“Of the many awards, designations, and other accolades I've been absolutely fortunate enough to receive throughout the years, being named in DBusiness Top Lawyers is one of the two or three that I sincerely value the most.
In this past year, I’ve tried a number of complex Criminal Sexual Conduct cases in front of juries, and I’m delighted that my clients have been found absolutely NOT GUILTY of ALL Counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct in all of them.
Many lawyers may handle up to 50 to 100 cases at a time, or even more, but they still only have 24 hours in a day. I only handle about 10 cases at a time, and I find that even those few cases basically require me to work around the clock 7 days. I’ve learned a lot about trying CSC cases throughout the years. Bruce Lee said something like...
'I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once. But I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.''
The reason Bruce Lee felt that way is the exact same reason that, if you’re facing Michigan Criminal Sexual Conduct charges, you should at least consult with an Attorney who actually concentrates on defending people accused of those very charges.
There is no “formula” for winning every CSC case, or any type of case. But one thing I think I can say from all of my trial experience throughout my entire practice is that if someone thinks they’re going to successfully try a CSC case just like they would any other criminal case - DUI, drug cases, theft, etc., I would tell them I think they're wrong. These cases just have so many unique aspects and peculiarities, and you really have to know what you’re doing.
And on that note, it’s easy for any lawyer to put up a website creating the impression that they concentrate their practice on Criminal Sexual Conduct defense, but you may want to ask a lawyer how many CSC cases they’ve tried before juries in recent times, and how many of those were NOT GUILTY verdicts.
